I know there are more standard tattoo meanings for a lot of tattoos, but many people also have personal meanings behind the tattoos that they choose. A friend just got a tattoo of a flower with two lady bugs flying away from it to symbolize her two kids leaving home. Lots of people do things like this, getting tattoos that only they understand the meanings behind unless they care to share the meaning with someone else. If I were to get a tattoo there would definitely have to be a personal meaning behind it, and it would take a lot of thought to decide what the tattoo should be.
