Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy is a problem caused by the short term shortage of oxygen getting to a part of the brain or central nervous system. This causes a lesion in the central nervous that is non-progressive, but creates a number of neurological problems that affect the health of the child. The neurological complications of cerebral palsy can be progressive, even thought the lesion that causes it is not progressive. The most common cause of the shortage of oxygen to the brain is some sort of event or trauma before, during or just after birth. Almost all need ongoing special care and management.
