Moving costs to factor when planning to move.
When moving, one should factor in these Moving Costs. Costs will vary depending on how far your move and how much you have to move. Here are the basic costs to consider: 1. Movers. Many movers are charging by the hour, an average of $25/hour. 2. Food and beverages. This is a nice gesture. When we moved, we provided a light continental breakfast (coffee, tea, pastries), lunch (a full meal at the restaurant), snack (beer and soft drinks) and dinner (take-out Mexican food). $100 should be plenty of food for 6 people. Soft drinks and sandwiches should do. Nothing too elaborate because the movers tend to get tired after a huge meal. 3. Tips. $20 per person would be nice, but it should not be demanded by the movers. This is encouragement for a job done well and tips. 4. Truck rental. If you have to rent a truck. Depends on the size of the truck. Count on at least $100. 5. Fuel. If you have to pay for the mileage and/or fuel for the truck(s). Nowadays, this is pretty costly. Count on at least another $50 for fuel but depends on how many trips and the distance. 6. Pet care for the day(s) that you are moving. Budget $50 per day. 7. Baby-sitting for the day(s) that you are moving unless the children will be out of the way and won’t get hurt. Budget $100 per day.
